Introduction to the Christian Faith

“And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God
and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” (NRSV, John 17:3)

Introduction to the Christian Faith was written by the Rev. Mervyn Pendleton MA and was based on many years’ experience of teaching both in church and school.  It has been edited and revised where necessary for the Holy Faith website.

The Apostles' Creed

This teaching in the Holy Faith website focuses on the Apostles’ Creed which can be found towards the end of the Order for Evening Prayer in the Book of Common Prayer.  The Common Worship version of the Apostles’ Creed is available here.

The Apostles' Creed comprises 45 short talks which were originally written for children and the style and examples included reflect this fact.  However, the content is relevant to older people wanting to know more about the Christian Faith and may help readers to say the Creed more prayerfully and with greater understanding.

I believe

The Creed was first written in Latin and began with the Latin word credo, I believe, and from that we get the word Creed.  So the Creed means the Belief.
